NHCASA is committed to educating the community on current issues affecting youth and families through our Public Education Forums and Lunch & Learn events. These events also provide annual in-service training hours required for CASA volunteers.
All CASA volunteers complete 32+ hours of initial training before being sworn in. After this initial training, we prioritize creating meaningful opportunities for continued learning so our volunteers are well-prepared to advocate for children.
National CASA requires volunteers to complete 12 hours of in-service training each year. These hours can be earned through CASA-sponsored trainings or other community-provided (pre-approved) opportunities. At NHCASA, we host Lunch & Learns on a variety of topics with guest speakers who share their professional expertise. We also organize several traveling Lunch & Learns throughout the year, offering tours of local facilities that serve children and families. Additionally, our annual Child Watch Tour allows volunteers to visit multiple organizations in one day to gain a deeper understanding of the resources available in our community.
We also encourage volunteers to participate in virtual learning opportunities provided by other agencies and partners. Continuing education is vital to ensure that CASA volunteers remain informed, confident, and effective advocates for the best interests of children.
