Pictured left to right: Sylvia Trentz, Teri Kraklow, Lin Carr, Connie Watson, Greg Krier and John Carr.
The Northern Hills Area CASA program recently held the Child Watch Tour in an effort to recognize Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention month. Many CASA volunteers and staff took this opportunity to tour four facilities around the Black Hills.
The Child Watch Tour was started as a unique way to recognize Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention month and has developed into a highly anticipated event for CASA Volunteers and local professionals. The tour is an excellent opportunity for attendees to personally view and learn more about some of the youth-centered facilities in and around our area.
This year the tour included Canyon Hills Center in Spearfish, a residential treatment facility housing both boys and girls, the Juvenile Services Center in Rapid City which provides safe and secure confinement care to juveniles in need, Wellspring Inc. in Rapid City which is a family focused residential treatment facility and the Black Hills Children’s Home in Rockerville. The Children’s Home serves children ages 4-13, through residential treatment, education, emergency shelter, foster care, and adoption services.
Thank you to Vern Bills of New York Life Insurance in Belle Fourche who sponsored the tour in part.
